An Apostille is an official certification of a document so it can be used in countries that follow the Hague Apostille Convention. You may need a document apostilled if you plan to work, study, do business or get married in another country. Common documents that require legalization include:
- birth, marriage, divorce or death certificates
- power of attorney, court documents, company registration
- educational diplomas and transcripts
Documents notarized by Notaries in Canada or any other country that is part of the Hague Apostille Convention country list are automatically valid in other countries after receiving the apostille seal. The Apostille process is equivalent to an “Authentication” and “Legalization” process for countries that are not part of the Hague Apostille Convention.
The Apostille process can be complicated and frustrating. We are one of the few Notaries with extensive experience navigating the systems of multiple countries and consulates and can help you simplify the process.
